I decided to start a blog.
A blog about being a fat dude who wants to dance ballet and be a runner.
Yes, I am the same guy who thinks that blogs are self-indulgent garbage, written by self-absorbed ass-hats. . . that having been said, I think I may start this to add a sense of accountability to attempting to reach my goals.
I suppose I should write this as if someone is reading it. . . if you are, seriously - the internet is full of interesting things, you should really be reading those things instead.
About myself:
I was once fat, I worked really hard to lose weight. I lost a ton of weight - and then regained it all, because food is delicious and I am naturally lazy.
I am a dude who takes a beginner adult ballet classes - pretty much the happiest thing I do any given week. I love class time - even though I'm always exhausted after work and really want a nap. If you've never tried a ballet class, you probably should.
I used to be a recreational long-distance runner - I would like to return to that, towards that end I'd like to run at least one full marathon by the end of the year, and at least two destination half-marathons. . .
I recently found out that I have some free education benefits coming to me. I'm in a bit of a dither on what to use those for. I work full-time now, and going to school simultaneously might be a bit of a killer. Additionally, my job is never stable and I don't know if I can finish school before the next contract re-compete. If I lose my job before I finish school, I'd be in a very bad place indeed.
The Plan:
I'm going to start running again - well, I'm going to start walking again, with the goal of getting back to running. I think I may start with the couch-to-5k plan for now. . .
I'm going to reboot T25 tomorrow (11/12/2014) afternoon - I enjoyed that workout and somehow got derailed, need to start back up, and finish it.
I'm in the process of applying to schools for the fall. I'm going to play it by ear from there.
What this Blog will be about:
I hope to post updates on my progress towards these goals, thoughts on my classes, and just whatever general horse-crap that occurs to me. Hopefully this will include products I like, technique issues that I enjoy working on, and just the general ramblings of a weirdo.
